Do you Believe Dreams have Special Meaning?

This is an interesting topic to discuss.  There are many people, cultures and religions that place a very high emphasis on dreams.   Some people believe dreams can forecast the future.  Others believe a dream represents something you desperately want.  Then of course there is a school of thought that believes a dream is a reminder of something awful that you did in your life that you can't face while awake.  My feeling is that the dream is in the eye of the dreamer.  I don't believe there is any consistency to dreams.  A dream may mean one thing for one individual, and it could mean something entirely different to another individual.  I would imagine just about every human being has at some point had a dream in their life.  I certainly have.   I've had thousands as I'm sure many other people have.  The question is, did you ever have a dream that had some kind of special meaning?   For me it happened only once.  Of the thousands of dreams I've had none of them meant anything.  Just one.  This dream was quite amazing.  When I had it I figured I must be some kind of psychic soothsayer.   Not quite as it turned out, lol.    I never had a dream of special meaning again.   To set the stage we must go back many years, to 1991.    I had always been a huge sports fan.   I followed the NFL, MLB and NBA.  Probably the biggest name in the NBA at that point in time was a player named Earvin "Magic" Johnson.  He had won 5 titles in the 1980s with the Los Angeles Lakers.  He had major commercial endorsement.  He was considered one of the best point guards to ever play the game.  To put it mildly, he was at the absolute top of his game and his life at this point in time.   For some reason I had a dream about him.  In the dream I could see him making an announcement.   I couldn't hear what it was he was announcing.  All I could hear was this voice saying "Something bad is going to happen to him",  "Something bad is going to happen to him", over and over and over.    I woke up and thought wow, that was weird.    Then I went about my day and didn't give the dream another thought.  This was until later in the day when I saw Johnson at a podium holding a press conference.   Seeing him at the podium kind of freaked me out because it was exactly what I saw in my dream.   Eventually he opened his mouth and announced he would be retiring from the Los Angeles Lakers immediately because he had tested HIV Positive. This was a complete shock.   Not so shocking for me since I had dreamed it the night before. Why I had this dream that turned into reality the next day I have no idea.   I can remember at that time it did cross my mind that maybe I had special powers.  However, I found out, like most people eventually do, that no such special power existed in me.  I'm just another human being.  That dream occurred close to 28 years ago now.  I've never had a dream of special meaning since.

It wouldn't surprise me if there are many people out there who have had a special dream.   Maybe some have even had multiple dreams that were special.   This is something I find very interesting.  I would love to learn about people like that.  I hope some will join in and add to the discussion........
